Wow! This is fantastic. A 52 year old man performs a planche on the gymnastic rings. It couldn’t get any better than this. I know that to many of you who are looking at the video are saying “come on, what’s great about that!” Well, try that and let me know.
On a similar note, planche is one of the movements that I am learning from Steve atlas. Yes, as many of you already know, I am a student of Steve Atlas, who is coaching me online on specific skills. I know that performing a proper planche it is one of the toughest movements to master. As Steve himself says, “doing 5-10 sets of planche in the beginning is tough, 15 sets, 20 and 50 sets…. is what I eventually had to work up to every other day in order to planche correctly.” It does rattle me when I imagine myself executing so many sets to perform the planche. On the flipside, I may not be able to do it, nonetheless.
I hope you understand the enormity of this exercise. However, the other take home message is to not stop training just because you think you are old. Do know that physical training provides the much required nourishment the body needs. Yes, you better nourish it, for you will lose it if you don’t use it.
Watch the video. The physical act may not look great, but it’s a beautiful movement to perform.
